The Bespoke Clinic

Dermapen microneedling is a medical-grade skin treatment that works by encouraging the skin’s own natural repair and renewal processes. By creating controlled micro-channels in the skin, Dermapen stimulates collagen production and supports healthier skin function over time.

At The Bespoke Clinic, Dermapen is used not simply for cosmetic improvement, but as part of a skin-health-first approach. It is particularly suited to people dealing with acne, scarring, rosacea-prone or sensitive skin, where judgement, pacing and clinical oversight really matter.

Treatments are delivered only following doctor led consultations. This means your treatment is personalised, carefully progressed and safe, with medical input available where needed for more complex skin concerns.

As a functional medicine clinic, we look beyond the skin itself, considering factors such as hormones, inflammation and overall health where relevant.

How Dermapen microneedling works

Dermapen microneedling works by creating tiny, controlled micro-injuries in the skin using fine, sterile needles. These micro-channels trigger the skin’s natural healing response, encouraging the production of collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for skin strength, structure and resilience.

As the skin repairs itself, cell turnover improves and new collagen is laid down in a more organised way. Over time, this can lead to smoother texture, improved tone, stronger skin barrier function and a more even appearance.

Because Dermapen allows precise control over depth and speed, treatment can be carefully tailored to different skin types and concerns. This makes it suitable not only for skin rejuvenation, but also for conditions such as acne scarring or rosacea-prone skin when used conservatively and appropriately.

Dermapen also enhances the absorption of professional serums applied during treatment, allowing targeted ingredients to reach deeper layers of the skin where they can be most effective.

What skin concerns can Dermapen help with?

Dermapen microneedling can support a wide range of skin concerns, including acne (both active and healing skin), acne scarring, rosacea-prone or reactive skin when used conservatively, enlarged pores, uneven skin texture or tone, pigmentation and sun damage, fine lines and early signs of ageing, and dull or stressed skin.

While Dermapen is most commonly used for facial skin concerns, it can also be used on other areas of the body where skin quality, texture or scarring is an issue.
Depending on skin type and treatment goals, Dermapen may be used to support improvement in:

Suitability, treatment depth and expected outcomes vary depending on the area treated, and these are always discussed during consultation.

Because Dermapen works with the skin rather than against it, results tend to look natural and gradual, building steadily over time rather than appearing sudden or overdone.

A medical-led approach to skin conditions

Skin concerns such as acne and rosacea are rarely just about the skin itself. Hormones, inflammation, stress and overall health often play an important role.

As a doctor-led, integrative clinic, we take this into account when planning treatment. Dermapen at The Bespoke Clinic is guided by a broader understanding of skin health. Your skin is carefully assessed before treatment, protocols are adapted for sensitive or inflamed skin, treatments are delivered conservatively and progressively, and medical review is available where appropriate.

This allows us to treat skin safely and thoughtfully, without pushing it beyond what it can tolerate.

Dermapen microneedling for acne and acne scarring

When used correctly, Dermapen can be very effective for acne-prone skin. For active acne, the focus is on supporting healing rather than overstimulation, calming inflammation, and improving skin turnover while protecting the skin barrier.

For acne scarring, Dermapen stimulates collagen in the deeper layers of the skin, helping to gradually soften and remodel scar tissue over time.

Each treatment plan is tailored, taking into account whether acne is active or settled, skin sensitivity and barrier health, appropriate needle depth and treatment frequency, and suitable pre- and post-treatment skincare. Dermapen is often part of a wider skin plan, particularly where acne has been persistent or hormonally influenced.

Dermapen for rosacea-prone and sensitive skin

Rosacea-prone skin needs a careful, measured approach. Dermapen is not suitable for every type of rosacea, but in selected cases it can help improve skin texture and resilience when used gently and appropriately.

Where suitable, treatment focuses on conservative stimulation, supporting the skin barrier, improving overall skin quality and avoiding unnecessary inflammation. A consultation is essential to assess suitability and ensure treatment is timed appropriately.

What happens during a Dermapen treatment?

Your Dermapen appointment includes a thorough skin consultation, gentle cleansing and skin preparation, controlled microneedling using sterile, single-use Dermapen cartridges, application of targeted professional serums, and post-treatment calming and barrier support.

Treatment usually lasts 30–45 minutes, depending on the area treated.

Does Dermapen hurt?

Most people describe Dermapen as comfortable to mildly uncomfortable. Some areas, such as the forehead, can feel a little more sensitive, but treatment depth and technique are always adjusted to your comfort and skin type.

Downtime and recovery

After treatment, it’s normal to experience redness for 24–48 hours, similar to mild sunburn, along with a warm or tight sensation. Some people also notice mild flaking as the skin renews.

Most clients return to normal daily activities the following day. Clear aftercare guidance is provided to support healing and results.

How many treatments will I need?

For skin conditions and collagen stimulation, we usually recommend a course of three to six treatments, spaced around four to six weeks apart. Maintenance treatments may be advised every three to six months, depending on your skin goals.

Results build gradually as collagen production increases over time.

Dermapen vs basic microneedling

Dermapen is a medical-grade device that allows precise control over treatment depth, causes less trauma to the skin, is safer for acne- or rosacea-prone skin, and improves delivery of professional active serums. This makes it both more effective and safer than at-home rollers or non-medical microneedling devices.

Advanced skin support with Dermapen: exosomes and ZO Skin Health serums

At The Bespoke Clinic, Dermapen microneedling can be supported with advanced, medical-grade skin therapies, selected carefully based on your skin condition, sensitivity and longer-term goals.

These enhancements are never routine or automatic. They are considered as part of a personalised treatment plan, particularly for clients with acne, rosacea-prone skin, scarring or compromised skin barrier function.

Exosomes are an emerging regenerative therapy used alongside microneedling to support skin repair, recovery and cellular communication. When combined with Dermapen, exosomes may help support post-treatment healing, calm inflammation and redness, improve overall skin quality and resilience, and enhance collagen signalling and repair processes. Exosomes are not suitable for everyone and are only recommended following consultation, where clinically appropriate.

We also work with ZO Skin Health, a medical-grade skincare range designed to improve skin function rather than simply surface appearance. ZO Skin Health serums may be used during or alongside Dermapen treatments to support skin barrier repair, acne-prone or congested skin, pigmentation and uneven skin tone, collagen stimulation and renewal, and long-term skin health. Products are selected carefully, particularly for sensitive or reactive skin, and are always integrated into a broader skin plan rather than used in isolation.

Is Dermapen right for you?

Dermapen microneedling may be suitable if you have acne or acne scarring, struggle with uneven texture or enlarged pores, have rosacea-prone or sensitive skin following assessment, want natural collagen stimulation, or prefer a gradual, evidence-based approach to skin improvement.

It may not be suitable if you have active skin infections, certain inflammatory skin conditions, or a severely compromised skin barrier on a temporary basis. Suitability is always confirmed during consultation.

Your Dermapen consultation

All Dermapen treatments begin with a consultation. This allows us to understand your skin history and concerns, assess acne, rosacea or scarring properly, decide whether Dermapen is appropriate, and create a personalised treatment plan.

This ensures your treatment is safe, considered and aligned with your skin goals.

Please Note: Each patient is individually assessed for safety, suitability and skin readiness for microneedling so this consultation will allow us to fully assess your needs and ensure we are delivering the best possible microneedling experience and correct serum or product for you. The cost of this consultation will be redeemable against the cost of any package you decide on.
