ZO® Skin Health
Medical-Grade Skincare, Doctor-Led

ZO Skin Health at
The Bespoke Clinic

At The Bespoke Clinic, we offer ZO® Skin Health as part of a doctor-led, medical and functional approach to skin health, supporting patients who want more than just “good skincare”, they want effective solutions.

ZO® Skin Health is not cosmetic skincare. It is a clinically developed, medical-grade system designed to restore how the skin functions, not simply improve how it looks.

For many people, persistent skin concerns are a sign that something deeper needs addressing. Our role is to help you understand why your skin is behaving the way it is, and to support it from the outside and the inside.
This means taking the time to assess your skin properly, explain what we’re seeing, and guide you through a plan that makes sense for you.

What Is ZO® Skin Health?

ZO® Skin Health was developed by internationally recognised dermatologist Dr Zein Obagi.

It is based on the principle that healthy skin should be strong, resilient and self-functioning, and that many skin problems arise when this function becomes impaired.

Unlike department store or spa skincare, ZO:

Why Medical-Grade Skincare Matters

Many patients come to us having tried:

The problem is rarely a lack of effort, it’s that skin function and importantly the skin barrier, has not been properly addressed.
We see this every week in clinic, and it is understandably frustrating. People then get understandably worried about trying new skin care, as they are so sensitive to new products.

Medical-grade skincare works at a deeper level to:

This is why ZO® Skin Health is not available without our professional assessment.

Advanced Skin Analysis – Looking Beneath the Surface

We use advanced skin analysis technology to take photographs and assess the different layers of the skin, not just what can be seen with the naked eye.

This allows us to identify:

  • Early pigment formation
  • Congestion below the surface
  • Barrier weakness
  • Redness and inflammatory patterns
  • Signs of accelerated ageing
  • Bacterial presence

This objective assessment helps us prescribe ZO® products with precision rather than guesswork, provides a baseline to track progress over time, and helps us avoid overtreating the skin, something that often causes more harm than good.

Treating Skin From the Inside and the Outside

Skin is not an isolated organ.
Acne, pigmentation, rosacea, sensitivity and premature ageing are often influenced by internal factors such as:

  • Hormones
  • Gut health and inflammation
  • Stress and cortisol patterns
  • Blood sugar regulation
  • Nutrient status

As a functional medicine clinic, we are able to look beyond skincare alone.

ZO® Skin Health forms the external foundation, while internal contributors are explored and addressed where appropriate, creating an environment where skin can genuinely recover and stabilise.
For many patients we see, this is the missing piece!

Functional Medicine Consultations for Skin Concerns

For patients with ongoing or complex skin issues, we offer functional medicine consultations alongside ZO skincare.

These consultations may explore:

  • Hormonal balance
  • Gut health and microbiome function
  • Inflammatory drivers
  • Nutrient insufficiencies
  • Lifestyle and stress factors impacting skin

This approach is particularly helpful when skin concerns:

  • Keep returning
  • Flare cyclically or hormonally
  • Are associated with digestive symptoms or fatigue
  • React unpredictably to products
  • Worsen during periods of stress

Skin DNA Testing – Personalised Skin Care at a Genetic Level

We offer Skin DNA testing for patients who want a deeper, personalised understanding of their skin.

Skin DNA testing looks at genetic variations associated with:

Your genetics don’t change, but how your skin responds to treatments does and these insights help guide:

Gut Microbiome Testing and Skin Health

There is a strong connection between gut health and skin health.

Imbalances within the gut can contribute to:

  • Acne and breakouts
  • Rosacea and redness
  • Inflammatory skin conditions
  • Skin reactivity
  • Poor healing and repair

Where appropriate, we offer advanced gut microbiome testing to explore these links and support skin health from within. We have many cases of improvement of skin symptoms as a result of ‘fixing the gut’ first, even if there were no gut symptoms to consider.

Hormone Testing and Skin Changes

We offer Skin DNA testing for patients who want a deeper, personalised understanding of their skin.

Hormones play a key role in:

We offer hormone testing when clinically appropriate, particularly for women experiencing:

Why This Approach Is Different

ZO® Skin Health is powerful on its own, but when combined with:

  • Advanced skin analysis
  • Medical oversight
  • Functional medicine insight
  • Internal testing where appropriate

…the results are often more stable, more predictable and longer-lasting.

This is skincare treated as healthcare, and your body treated as one! A true holistic approach.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ZO® Skin Health suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes, when prescribed correctly. Many people labelled as having “sensitive skin” actually have impaired barrier function or underlying inflammation. ZO protocols are designed to rebuild tolerance over time under professional guidance.

Some ZO programmes involve controlled stimulation of the skin. This is not the same as damage. Any reaction is carefully monitored and adjusted to your skin’s capacity. This will be discussed and we will always stay safe to ensure you get good results in a timely way.

No. ZO can be used as a standalone skincare programme. Functional testing is offered when skin concerns are persistent, complex or suggest internal drivers. Many patients are keen to understand their skin health from the inside out, and we’re there to support that ongoing health and wellbeing journey, not just for their skin, but for their overall health.

Yes. ZO is commonly used alongside hormone assessment and support, particularly for adult acne, pigmentation and skin thinning.

How long does it take to see results?

Many people notice improvements within weeks, but meaningful skin change occurs over months, not days. Skin is not static, it changes with stress, seasons, diet and hormones, so we work with you over time to adjust your plan as needed.

ZO is medical grade, meaning it is formulated to actively change skin behaviour. It is not comparable to cosmetic skincare in terms of potency or structure. You can spend a lot of money on skincare in very reputable department stores or at the airports, and many of our patients have. ZO is another level, backed by medical research and often more cost-effective long term.

ZO products are prescribed following consultation. This ensures correct selection, education and follow-up. We are carefully selected as a clinic to stock ZO®, as the company recognises the importance of safe, evidence-based prescribing. Once you are on the right package, we can post this out to you for convenience.

Medical note

All treatments are subject to consultation and suitability assessment. Advanced skin therapies such as exosomes are not appropriate for all individuals and are offered only where clinically appropriate. Results vary between individuals. The Bespoke Clinic is a holistic functional health clinic and we will always be considering the whole of you, inside and out!
